This computer has many obnoxious quirks including have the volume button pop up when not pressed so that the computer cannot be used for a solid minute, the mouse has times when it goes crazy, there will be times when I click on an item and it will keep popping up until I unplug the computer and remove the battery, the disc drive also goes back and forth between working and not working. If I had the money to buy another computer I would in a heartbeat because this one and the customer "support" behind it sucks. It acts like it is possessed most of the time.
I spent a long time trying to track down the receipt for them only to have no one no what I was talking about later. If I was allowed to swear on this I would because I hate this product and company so much. I have spent at least 10 hours on the phone with complete idiots in 20 (seemingly) different countries who do not know anything about these computers.
This computer is AWFUL. The problem is that everyone at HP is telling me different things including that I can and cannot return it to HP directly. It also has many other quirks that I cannot even remeber.
I have called HP to fix it and they have tried to over the phone (I have had it "fixed" 3 times) but an hour later the same thing happens again. I am now trying to return the product because I don't even want to think about how it will act when it is older.
All-in-all, these are minor issues that are more annoying than anything else. There's a hum that comes from my external speakers/headphones and mic. You have to create your own restore disks from a separate partition on the hard drive that takes up space on the advertised 320 GB HDD (which wouldn't be horrible if it was exactly what you'd get on a Windows factory disk since you could just reformat later). Also, HDMI was advertised on a retailer's website, but it has no HDMI port.
The computer is pretty good for the price. For a brand-name computer, it's pretty damn good. The problem is that it forces you to keep all the crap they load on the computer (HP factory settings) and spend hours trying to uninstall it all instead of just reformating and reloading Vista. It has the speed I need and most of the hookups.
Lastly, you don't get a Windows disk. To have one custom made with the same specs would normally cost two to four times as much. The only issues I have with it are minor. Though, it's not horribly loud, and it's possible that might be because I only have average quality equipment.
the heating is not that much.It is smaller and lighter than my previous laptop. The battery time is OK.The colors and outside design are Ok, but the plastic shiny material is a fingerprints magnet. I am very pleased with my HP laptop, as well as Amazon.com's service. The laptop is very powerful and handles Vista with no issues. This laptop even has a switch in the front to turn off the wireless in case you're in an area that you do not want to chance someone accessing your computer or to just save on battery power. I recommend this product. The computer boots quickly and connection to my network and the internet was simple. the performance is good.
The laptop feels pretty light. I think it's because the DVD tray is below that area of the keyboard. It's fast, nice sized hard drive, and the screen looks amazing.
My Desktop had Vista Ultimate 32 on it, so I was already a fan. I don't think that it's a defective keyboard, I think it's a design issue. All in all I think this is a great laptop. The only complaint I have is that the lower right side of the keyboard, from the enter key down through the arrows, feels hollow or loose underneath.
This is a terrific laptop. Windows Vista-64 is great. This is my first AMP laptop system and I must say it is just as fast as my Core2Duo E6600 Desktop was.
The exterior finish is sleek. Start-up into the OS is blazing fast.
I've had absolutely no issues with this notebook and it compares favorably to my previous Toshiba. The only downside is battery life and even that isn't too bad for the moderate user. This notebook is a definate must if your on a limited budget but you don't want to sacrifice performance. I purchased the dv2000 from BestBuy for 699.99$. Excellent product, a must buy. This notebook has 4gb of memory, massive 320gb hardrive space, and amd's dual core Turion X2 processor rated at 2.00Ghz. For the price it gives you the most bang for your buck. Nividia provides excellent graphics for a notebook of this price.
